CATALINA ©

the limited mini series produced by ProteKt© in association with WORD.©

Catalina began as a personal journey I documented while backpacking across Central America. From curious to serious- uncovering my roots led to a newfound awareness of family and economics and to writing about the dynamics of social / political and cultural identity. This self-discovery became the scripted narrative for Catalina - a self-discovery that led me all the way back to Mayan history. Catalina is a story that intertwines the legends of Ancient Mayan culture and mystical fantasy with modern day reality.

Through Catalina, Word. Productions reveals a complicated history and sometimes unspoken set of conversations of immigrants from 3rd world countries such as Guatemala. This is an opportunity to bring pride to American Hispanic heritage. These unsung heroes are often our women entrepreneurs from Guatemala.
